In separate displays of courage, three men took action themselves and successfully captured mobile phone thieves who had either stolen or snatched their devices.

In the first incident, Sachin, a resident of Kasandi village in Sonipat, was targeted by robbers while he was asleep at his workplace near Sundar Nagar, Najafgarh, around 3 a.m. on May 12. The following morning, after examining CCTV footage, he recognized a young man in a red T-shirt arriving on a black motorcycle, entering the stockyard, and then heading toward Surakhpur.

Determined to recover his phone, Sachin joined forces with his coworker, Sunil, to investigate the area. While riding through Surakhpur, they noticed two young men near a local cricket academy—one of whom resembled the person seen in the footage. When they confronted them, Sachin realized one of the individuals was holding his stolen phone.

The confrontation intensified when one of the suspects drew a sharp iron implement concealed under the motorcycle’s fuel tank and attempted to assault Sachin. Despite the threat, Sachin and Sunil subdued both suspects and promptly informed the police. Officers arrived soon after and detained the individuals.

In a second instance, Raman Kumar, a 20-year-old resident of Munirka Village, chased and apprehended one of three mobile phone snatchers on the night of May 14, near Ambedkar Chowk in Kishangarh, southwest Delhi. Raman informed the police that he had stepped outside to make a phone call due to poor signal reception when three men approached him. One grabbed his phone and tried to escape with the others.

Raman pursued them and successfully caught one of the perpetrators. When the other two attempted to assist their associate, Raman’s loud calls for help alerted his uncle, prompting the culprits to flee. The captured individual was handed over to law enforcement shortly thereafter.

In the third occurrence, Saidul Hasan, a 43-year-old resident of Old Mustafabad, caught one of three men who had taken his phone near Signature Bridge in the New Usmanpur area of northeast Delhi on May 6. Hasan was heading toward Simachar Bridge around 4 p.m. when one of the offenders snatched his mobile device.

The trio fled in the direction of the Yamuna Khadar forest. Refusing to let them get away, Hasan shouted “thief! thief!” to alert passersby and pursued them. After a brief chase, he managed to catch one of the culprits.
