The Nurmahal police have registered a case against a travel agent for allegedly defrauding a Nurmahal village resident of ₹12 lakh under the guise of sending him overseas.

Investigating Officer (IO) Amrik Lal stated that the accused has been identified as Imran Khan, a resident of Ward No. 6, Ahmedgarh, in Malerkotla. He further mentioned that Sandeep Singh, hailing from Bhardwajian village, had lodged a complaint with the Jalandhar (Rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), claiming he paid ₹12 lakh to the accused for arranging his relocation abroad. However, the promised travel was never facilitated, and the agent also failed to return his money, passport, and educational documents.

The IO added that a case has been filed under Sections 318(4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 316 (criminal breach of trust and cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
