A 10-day intensive Combined Annual Training Camp-34 of the 2 Punjab NCC Battalion commenced at DAV University on Tuesday. The camp has brought together 600 NCC cadets from 45 different educational institutions. Among them, 200 are girl cadets who will also undergo comprehensive military training. The camp is being held under the supervision of NCC Group Commander Brigadier Ajay Tewari.

Special demonstrations and preparedness training will be delivered by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to equip cadets with skills to aid in emergencies and contribute to civil defence as responsible citizens.

To build confidence and enhance capabilities, a series of competitions have been planned. These include team sports like basketball, volleyball, kho-kho, and tug-of-war to promote camaraderie. Public speaking skills will be developed through debate and extempore contests aimed at sharpening communication and leadership qualities.

The 600 cadets have been divided into four companies, each named after a Param Vir Chakra recipient from Punjab, to help cadets connect with their rich heritage and draw inspiration from the bravery of national heroes.

Col Joshi expressed sincere appreciation to Vice-Chancellor Dr. Manoj Kumar, NCC in-charge Lieutenant Dr. Ahmed Hussain, and the DAV University staff for providing full support and facilities free of charge to enable the military training and future readiness of the cadets. He also highlighted that the curriculum will help cadets prepare for NCC certification exams. The camp is being managed by two Army officers, six associate NCC officers, and 25 military trainers. The program will conclude on June 19.
