Continuing to make their mark on the international athletics stage, Jalandhar’s Gurindervir Singh and Twinkle Chaudhary have delivered outstanding performances. Gurindervir was part of the men’s 4x100m relay team at the Taiwan Open Athletics meet, where the quartet clinched the gold medal with an impressive time of 38.75 seconds. He ran the opening leg of the race, setting the pace early on. His teammates Animesh Kujur, Manikanta Hoblidhar, and Amlan Borgohain completed the victorious team effort.

Similarly, Twinkle Chaudhary secured the silver medal in the women’s 800m race, clocking 2:06.96 at the same championship held in Taipei.

Both athletes train under coach Sarabjit Happy, for whom this success marks a moment of pride. “Their achievements have been highly motivating, especially for the youngsters. Parents now approach us, expressing a desire for their children to be mentored in the same way as Gurindervir and Twinkle. We often share with them the journey of perseverance, discipline, and relentless effort that shaped these athletes,” the coach shared.

Coach Happy expressed confidence in their future prospects, noting that both have immense potential. Twinkle is scheduled to return tomorrow. She has been appointed as a coach in the Punjab Sports Department and will soon assume her new responsibilities. She is also aiming for selection in two upcoming international competitions in Switzerland and France, he added.

Gurindervir, who recently set a national benchmark by finishing the 100m sprint in just 10.20 seconds at the Indian Grand Prix in Bengaluru—the fastest time recorded by an Indian athlete this season—is preparing to represent the country at the World University Athletics Championship next month in Germany. The 24-year-old sprinter hails from Patial village near Bhogpur.
