The Delhi wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday strongly criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia for a social media post in which he accused the BJP of resorting to “saam, daam, dand, bhed” (tactics of persuasion, bribery, coercion, and manipulation) to gain power in Delhi. BJP representatives described the comment as a blatant affront to the democratic will of the electorate.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor stated that Sisodia’s remarks not only belittled the citizens’ mandate but also highlighted his own “double standards.” “It brings to mind the old proverb — ‘When the sieve complains, what of the strainer with countless holes?’” Kapoor quipped.

He alleged that the former Deputy Chief Minister was attempting to divert public attention from his personal electoral loss and the corruption accusations leveled against him.

The BJP also rebuffed Sisodia’s allegations of the current government being formed through undemocratic practices, asserting that voters in Delhi had already chosen to hold AAP accountable, especially in connection with the liquor policy controversy. “Delhiites rejected AAP due to the liquor scam orchestrated by Sisodia. In 2027, even voters in Punjab will demand answers from the party,” Kapoor further stated.
