In a startling episode, burglars targeted the residence of a sub-inspector in broad daylight at Tandi village, situated in the Begowal area of Kapurthala district. They climbed over the boundary wall and gained entry by breaking the locks on the doors, fleeing with cash, gold ornaments, and costly liquor.

The house is owned by Dharaminder Singh, who is currently attending a promotion training program in Phillaur. At the time of the incident, only his wife, Santosh Kaur, was present at the residence. On the morning of May 27, she departed around 8 AM to participate in a condolence gathering at a relative’s home.

When she returned in the evening, she discovered the front door forcibly opened and the contents of cupboards strewn across various rooms. Realizing that a theft had occurred and being alone, she promptly sought assistance from nearby residents.

Initial inquiries indicated that the culprits made off with ₹40,000 in cash, approximately two tolas of gold, and premium liquor. The Begowal police recovered an iron rod from the site, suspected to have been used to force the locks.
