Under the ‘Ek Din DC/SSP De Sang’ initiative, seven students who topped the matriculation and senior secondary examinations in Nawanshahr district spent a memorable day with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) today. The day began with a breakfast at the DC’s camp office, where the students shared their excitement and gratitude. Being hosted for an entire day and witnessing the routine responsibilities of both the DC and SSP left them feeling honoured and inspired.
The students expressed that they were deeply encouraged by the insights and motivational words shared by the Deputy Commissioner regarding academics, personal challenges, and future goals. Among the students were Twinkle Kaur and Babita Kumari, who achieved 97.54% and 96.75% in matriculation, respectively, along with Simarjeet Kaur, Harmanpreet Kaur, Ranbir Kaur, Shreya Yadav, and Adarsh Yadav, who scored 98.6%, 97.6%, 97.6%, 97.2%, and 97.4% in their senior secondary examinations. They expressed pride in their achievements, which earned them this unique opportunity to engage with senior district officials.
During their interaction with DC Ankurjeet Singh, the students shared their academic and career ambitions. The Deputy Commissioner recounted his own experiences, emphasizing that consistent dedication during matric, class 11, and senior secondary years lays a solid groundwork for success in higher education and competitive examinations. He highlighted the long-term benefits of their current perseverance.
The students also participated in several meetings chaired by the DC and were introduced to the core responsibilities of the District Magistrate’s office. They explored various offices within the District Administrative Complex, including the offices of the ADC (G), District Public Relations Officer (DPRO), District Development and Panchayats, District Programme Officer (DPO), Control Room, Social Security, SDM, Sewa Kendra, and other key departments. During the visit, officers from each department responded to the students’ questions and explained their work in detail.
Later in the day, the students visited the SSP office, where they met with SSP Dr Mehtab Singh. An MBBS graduate turned IPS officer, Dr Singh shared his inspiring journey into civil services. The students toured the SSP office and had meaningful interactions with police personnel, gaining valuable insights into the operations and responsibilities of the police force.
