The establishment of the Press Club was announced today by veteran journalists representing several newspapers and electronic media outlets in Kapurthala. Sandeep Oberai was chosen as the president, and Amarjit Singh Sadana was appointed as the general secretary. A gathering of correspondents and bureau heads from different media houses was convened today. Following deliberations, members commenced the selection process for the leadership positions of this new organization.

On this occasion, an eight-member panel of senior journalists—comprising Amarjit Komal, Vipin Mahajan, Roshan Khera, Kishori Rajput, Ravi Pathak, Harnek Singh Jainpuri, Surinder Chopra, and Ashish Puri—unanimously selected the president and general secretary of the Press Club.

The newly appointed president and general secretary were felicitated by fellow club members and senior media professionals.

Both assured those present that they would serve with integrity and commitment, working closely with colleagues to resolve issues faced by journalists on a priority basis.

The media fraternity vowed to promote clean and principled journalism, passing a resolution against sensationalist reporting.

“It was further resolved that the Press Club would disassociate itself from individuals engaged in unethical journalism and grant membership exclusively to active media professionals.”

The elected office bearers were also entrusted with the responsibility of constituting the club’s executive body.
