Ludhiana, one of the districts most severely affected with a substantial number of cases, has topped the state in Covid-19 testing over the past week.

Between April 15 and 21, the district carried out the highest number of tests at 43,699, with 11.5 percent of them returning positive. During this timeframe, the state recorded an average positivity rate of 10.3 percent and reached a peak of 56,571 daily Covid tests on April 21.

According to district-wise statistics compiled by the Department of Health and Family Welfare — a report obtained by The Tribune — Jalandhar ranked second with 38,013 tests and a 7.8 percent positivity rate, while Amritsar followed in third place with 28,182 tests and a positivity rate of 10.2 percent.

  • Patiala conducted 27,772 tests with a 9.7 percent positivity rate.

  • Mohali reported 25,308 tests, recording the state’s highest positivity rate at 20.8 percent.

  • Fatehgarh Sahib administered 4,484 tests, with a 7.6 percent positivity rate.

  • Ferozepur reported 4,270 tests, with 15.1 percent positive cases.

  • Moga conducted 3,547 tests, with a positivity rate of 12.9 percent.
