The Khel Udyog Sangh has raised concerns over receiving VAT recovery notices. Group members stated that while the VAT assessment for 2017–18 had been completed, the one-time settlement (OTS) policy had yet to be implemented.

applied to the first quarter of 2017–18, for which they continue to receive recovery notices.

Ravindra Dhir, a member of the Sangh, said that small industrialists are already under pressure due to the department’s authority to conduct raids. To make matters worse, the non-implementation of the OTS policy for assessments after 2017–18 has resulted in the issuance of VAT recovery notices.

In the current situation, small businesses are facing further hardship. What is most surprising is that this issue pertains only to the first quarter of 2017–18, as GST was implemented afterward. The GST amnesty scheme was introduced months ago, allowing traders to resolve disputes from 2017 to 2020. Many have already availed themselves of it. Given these circumstances, the absence of an OTS policy for the first quarter of 2017–18 is perplexing. The state government should announce the scheme at the earliest so that small traders can settle their dues just as they have in the past,” he said.
